Start Each Day With the Grace-given Privilege of Prayer

February 21, 2024

I just wanted to remind you to start each day with prayer.

Prayer is such a grace-given privilege to speak with our Heavenly Father.

We can come boldly to His throne of grace to tell Him anything and everything, and He is waiting to listen and comfort our anxious hearts.

Life can be so busy depending on the season we are in. At times, we might find it challenging to sit and pour out our hearts to our Heavenly Father, who so passionately and patiently waits on us in love to come to Him when life makes us weary.

Friend, I am here to tell you that prayer can become your lifestyle if you remain in constant communication with your Heavenly Father.

You see, Friend, our God has placed eternity in our hearts; we are wired to seek after Him. Whatever our time with our Heavenly Father looks like in prayer and devotion is not important, but there is a part of us that can only be satisfied through time spent with our Father and Creator. Friend, we were created to seek after Him.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end.

Friend,

When you feel sad, talk to him. He is joy.

If your heart is anxious, He will bring you peace.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

If you feel afraid, talk to Him.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

If you feel lonely, talk to Him.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

If you can’t figure out what to do, He will bring clarity. He created you with a specific purpose in mind.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

If you are at a place where you feel you have lost hope, He is there; talk to Him.

Like David, cry out!

Psalm 42:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

I am so grateful that God answers my prayers, which are constant conversations, sentences, or groans.

Does He always answer the way I would like? Not at all, but I trust His sovereign will for my life!

In this season of motherhood that I am in with young children, I am so grateful that I can speak to my Heavenly Father at any time. I might not be able to go off to a quiet room or on a long walk in nature, both of which I enjoyed, but now I know I do not need an ideal situation in order to be in the presence of my Heavenly Father.

I am more confident and comfortable in this season talking with my Heavenly Father.

There is no way we can become effective Christian mothers, wives, and friends without prayer and reading the Word. When we pray and read the Word, the Holy Spirit reveals the heart of our Father to us.

You have nothing to lose in prayer but everything to gain. What can be more fulfilling than speaking with the creator of the universe that loves you and created you in love with an eternal purpose in mind?

If you are looking for rest for your soul, I invite you, Dear Friend, to start talking to your Father.

He invites us to take His yoke upon us and learn from Him!

Matthew 11:29-30 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

“He who knows the weakness of man and the authority and power of God says pray, ask, seek, knock.” Charles Spurgeon

Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Dear Friend, if you are anxious, you remember you are commanded not to be anxious about anything. But with prayer and supplication, make your request known to God!

I found this explanation on some privileges of prayer by Charles Spurgeon and wanted to share it with you.

“To pray is, as it were, to bathe in a cool swirling stream and so to escape from the heat of Earth’s summer sun. To pray is to mount an eagle’s wings above clouds and get into the clear Heaven where God dwells. To pray is to enter the treasure house of God and to gather riches out of an inexhaustible storehouse. To pray is to grasp Heaven in one’s soul and feel one’s body made a temple of the Holy Spirit. To pray is to cast off your burdens. It is to tear away your rags; it is to shake off disease; it is to be filled with spiritual vigour; it is to reach the highest point of Christian health.”

My prayer for us,

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray that you will grant us the gift of prayer.

Help us to understand that you love us with ever-lasting love, and your arms are open and waiting for us to come boldly to talk to you about any or anything that might be on our hearts. Lord, help us understand that you are a very present help in trouble and nothing we are facing surprises you. Let us feel your love for us and rest at your feet because there is fullness of joy in your presence. Help us, Lord, to understand that when we come to you. You hear us.

Remind us daily of Hebrews 4:15

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.”

Lord, help us daily to be open to you in prayer because you know all things, and you are the answer to all things.

Amen

I hope these words of encouragement are helpful for you or someone you know.

You know I love hearing from you. Feel free to send me a message at any time.
