Remember to live in the moment and love yourself for who you are and where you are. There will never be a season in your life when it is okay not to love yourself.
As mothers and wives, the expectations being portrayed in this world will suck the joy out of our lives if we allow them to seep in unchecked by Godly wisdom. What we see being portrayed is nowhere near reality.
Being a Christian wife, mother, and homemaker is hard work that is only possible with the help of the Holy Spirit. Because of the many demands these roles will place on us, it is easy for moms to constantly push their needs aside for the functioning of their family. This can be true, especially for new moms. We are being bombarded with a narrative that is constantly telling us we are not doing enough to do more.
Motherhood, family life and work life will take a toll on our minds, emotions and bodies. These roles all together will take a toll on our entire being. A toll we, at times, do not wish to admit, and so, we are our first critics and develop some resentment towards ourselves because of the unrealistic expectations of society.
Being a Christian mom and wife or establishing a Godly home requires sacrificial love that only the Holy Spirit can instruct our hearts in.
Mom Friend, stop chasing after perfection. Perfection is a person whose name is Jesus Christ. As Christian mothers who are dedicated to the well-being of our family, it is easy to overlook our need to love ourselves. The more we grow in these sacrificial roles, the Holy Spirit will open our eyes to the fact that we, too, need to slow down to love ourselves and allow Him to love us.
We are the ones who will teach our children who are watching our every move to love themselves. We are commanded to love others the way we love ourselves.
Do you love you today? Do you love yourself, the one you created in the image of God?
Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
Give yourself the love you deserve today! How will you be intentional about loving yourself today?
I think a great place for us to start would be the way we talk to ourselves about ourselves. Let us speak love and encouragement into our souls. Let us remind ourselves today, friend, that we are beautiful, created in the image and likeness of our Heavenly Father.
We are created with a purpose, and in the life that we are living, the children we are parenting, and the husbands we are loving, let us remind ourselves that God made us especially for the role. Tell yourself that everything needed for the purposes God has called you for is on the inside. Our Father is all-knowing and knows exactly what we need for this life into eternity.
Mom Friend, you can and will accomplish great things, so do not ever give up. You might not be able to go at a pace you once knew but do not ever give up. God will honour your sacrifice at the appointed time.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Do not give up on your dreams and visions, Mother Friend, be confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
Love on you today.
